Introduction

Alodine (Also called Chromate conversion coating) refers to creating a small protective thin layer on the surface of substrate material using a solution containing chromium ions. The layer protects from corrosion and also provides aesthetic appeal with greenish-gold color.

It is a low-cost surface finishing approach to the parts with aluminum and their alloys. Parts are immersed into the bath for the coating, which is a rapid process applicable to complex components.
