SURFACE FINISHING

Black-Oxide

A black-oxide finish minimizes the reflection and resists corrosion.

Introduction

The black-oxide finish is a chemical coating technique that covers the surface of metal parts with a smooth, microscopic layer of magnetite (Fe3O4) that ranges in thickness from 0 to 30 micrometer’s. A black-oxide finish minimizes the reflection and resists corrosion.

It is suitable for ferrous materials like copper, zinc, aluminum, chromium, cast iron, cast Steel, Stainless Steel, and others. It is employed in the hardware, automotive, defense, medical, and other industries. The surface turned a deep black color, giving the products an aesthetic appeal.
