Can you help me engineer my part?

Designing parts is outside the scope of Prolean as a contract manufacturer, but we can offer some guidance with Design for Manufacturability (DFM). With DFM, we can suggest ways to optimize your design to lower costs while retaining functionality.

What information do you need to quote my part?

In order to provide a meaningful quote, we only require the following information:

  • A fully dimensioned print, drawing, or sketch in either PDF or CAD format.
  • All required raw materials.
  • Any necessary secondary operations, including heat treating, plating, anodizing or finishing specifications.
  • Any applicable customer specifications, such as First Article Inspection, material certification, and required outside process certificates.
  • Expected quantity or quantities.
  • Any other useful information, such as target pricing or required lead times.
Please contact us for further information.
What is your standard delivery lead-time for prototype parts? For production parts?
  • Every part is unique, so it’s impossible to designate a meaningful “standard delivery lead-time.” However, Prolean team is ready and willing to quickly review your part and provide you an estimate.

Please contact us for further information.

How quickly can I expect to receive your quote for my part?

It depends on the complexity of parts, for simple parts, we can deliver your quote as fast as 1 hour, and not more than 12 hours, complex parts such as mold will be completed within 48 hours. we will respond with your quote in 12 hours. The best way to help ensure a quick quote is to provide as many accurate specifics as you can.

Please contact us for further information.

What if the surface finish option I need does not appear on the list?

Yes, we offer a wide range of surface finishing options, some of them are not listed on the surface finishes page. You could always send us the quote request or contact our engineers even if it is not on the list. And our engineer will get back your quotation as soon as one hour.

CNC Machining

What are the common types of CNC machining?

Milling, turningMilling-Turning and swiss-turning are the common types of CNC machining operations. We also provide other CNC Machine processes, you are always free to contact us for further information.

What is the lowest thickness I can implement into my design to prevent warpage?

We recommend a minimum thickness of 0.5mm for metal and 1mm for plastic. The value, however, is heavily dependent on the size of the parts to be manufactured. For example, if your parts are much smaller, you may need to increase the minimum thickness limit to prevent warpage, and for large parts, you may need to lower the limit.

Please contact us for further information.

What's the lowest thickness for the turning process I can use in my design to avoid warpage?

We recommend a minimum thickness of 0.8 mm for metal and 1.5 mm for plastic. The value, however, is heavily dependent on the size of the parts to be manufactured. For instance, you might need to lower the minimum thickness limit for large parts and raise it for much more minor parts to prevent warpage.

Please contact us for further information.

What types of shapes can a wire EDM machine produce?

EDM wire machines can produce various shapes, including logos, stamping dies, minor hole drilling, and blanking punches. Internal fillets and corners.

Please contact us for further information.

What is the difference between traditional EDM and wire cut approach?

The primary difference between wire cut and EDM is that wire cut uses brass or copper wire as the electrode, whereas wire structure is not used in EDM. Compared to functionality, the wire-cut technique can produce smaller angles and more complicated patterns.

Please contact us for further information.

Dimensions and quantity

What is the smallest quantity you make? The largest?

No quantity is too small or too large. We make parts in quantities ranging from one piece to over 1 million, Whether proof-of-concept, prototype, or full production, we’re ready to deliver quality parts on a timely schedule.

Please contact us for further information.

What is the smallest part you can make? What is the largest part you can make?

The short answer is “it depends.” Things like your needs, part complexity, the type of manufacturing, and many other factors are at play. In general, we can machine parts with minor outside diameters (ODs) as small as 2mm (0.080”) and major ODs as large as 200mm (8”). If you’re looking for help nailing down those factors, our experienced engineers can review your part and provide insight and assistance.

Please contact us for further information.

Inspection Document

Do you offer First Article Inspection reporting and material certification?

Yes, we offer FAI and material certification for parts we make. Please let us know your specific QA reporting needs with your RFQ, and we will incorporate it into your quote. Additional charges may apply.

Please contact us for further information.

What type of inspection equipment do you have?

In addition to standard equipment like optical comparators, plug gages, ring gages, thread gages and optical CMM which allow our Quality Assurance Team to verify First Article and complete in-process inspections more efficiently.

Please contact us for further information.

Precision Machining Tolerance

What is the achievable tolerance limit for CNC machining?

±0.001″ or 0.025mm is the standard machining tolerance. However, tool tolerance can deviate from standard tolerance. For example, if the tolerance is ±0.01 mm, the standard tolerance is changed by 0.01 mm.

Please contact us for further information.

What are the standard CNC machining tolerances available from Prolean?

Our CNC machines can limit tolerance to ±0.0002 inches. However, if you have a critical product, we can tighten the tolerances up to ±0.025mm or 0.001mm as per the drawing.

Please contact us for further information.

Sheet Metal

How Large of Size can be bent at Prolean's?

With the help of our Advanced CNC bending machine, We can bend sheet metal from just a few millimeters to several meters long. The largest bending part size can reach 6000*4000mm.

Please contact us for further information.

How Large of Size can be Cut with a Laser?

We can cut parts as high as 6000*4000 mm. However, it can change depending on the type of Material, thickness, and required parts criteria.

Please contact us for further information.

What are the Material Options for Sheet Metal Fabrication at Prolean?

We have various material options for Water- jet cutting to contribute to your project: Nylon, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum and its alloys, Nickel, Silver, Copper, Brass, Titanium, and more.

Please contact us for further information.

What benefits do water-jet cuts have over laser cuts?

While water-jet cutting can be used to cut various materials, including wood, porcelain, and more rigid materials like tempered steel, laser cutting is only appropriate for a small range of materials. Another significant advantage is that Lase cutting approach has the potential for thermal damage at the cutting age. Water jet eliminates the risk because it does not use heat to cut the material, and the working temperature can only reach up to 40 to 60 0 C.
