Rapid tooling 

Rapid tooling, in simple terms, is a bridge between prototype production and mass production which is why it’s also called “bridge tooling.” Rapid tooling uses aluminum inserts for making the tool. When prototyping is uneconomical for the required quantity and design not stable for production tooling, rapid tooling is ideal. Engineers utilize rapid tooling for production of trial batches as well.

Production tooling

Overmolding

Overmolding produces products by combining two or more different materials. The first injected material, called substrate, usually gets covered by the subsequent material in the manufacturing process.
